Visiting the Air Station

Yesterday we went on a field trip with other homeschoolers to the US Coast Guard Air Station in Aguadilla. We toured an amazing hanger that has so far survived all hurricanes, climbed into helicopters and watched a demonstration of some rescue techniques. The kids loved it! These airmen are busy rescuing people all around Puerto Rico that have capsized their boats, been washed off the boats by a wave and so many other catastrophes that we see in the news on a daily basis. We often see them patrolling the shores on the western side of Puerto Rico, looking for drug offenders and illegal immigrants.
