Christmas at UPR

Last night we experienced our first Christmas party in Puerto Rico. The university put on a party for staff and faculty and their families. We had such a nice time walking around the campus with Mark. I realized that I haven't done much of that, so this was a perfect time to explore. A few older buildings, restored to their former glory, were surrounded by tropical flowering plants. And, of course, there is always a chicken or two around. The egret surprised us, but when there are frogs and fish to be found, they are there. We watched him fish for a while before the kids inched forward. Then on to fried food, almost like a fair in the US, but with the latin twist. The cornmeal and beef bit above was quite good, along with chicken chunks on sticks and friend dough with fish in it. There was a loud band playing Christmas music, which really piled on the Puerto Rican feel to the party.
