Sunday Afternoon

After church on Sundays we like to visit our friends Cassie and Britton to see their turkeys and chickens and buy some wonderful free-range eggs. On this Sunday we got to see Cassie the Iguana Hunter in action! She caught a small one that was hanging out on the fence near the house. Then we walked at the lighthouse in Rincon (El Faro de Punta Higuero). Surprisingly, the waves were almost nonexistent. We didn't pack our swimsuits thinking the waves would still be rough from the recent hard rains, but it was beautiful!

  1. What neat experiences! I always thought iguanas were dangerous, as children we were taught not to go near them. I do remember in Costa Rica we went to a place where the iguanas were very tame and you could touch them. I wonder if they are a different variety or if it's just what they get used to.

  2. It is a good idea for children to not go near them. You have to be very careful they don't bite you or whip you with their tale. This was a small one, so Cassie could hold it and the tail well enough that it was no problem.
