Skiing in the Gulch

{Pieter making designs in the snow}

{Juliana's turn}

This past weekend we went back to Higgins Gulch for a ski in the late afternoon. With snow softly coming down, it looked a little different than last weekend when the kids went hiking with Ben. We've figured out pretty well how to do this with the kids. Pieter really like riding on the sled with breaks of running around like a dog in the woods. On the way back down the hill, Ben was surprised to see all the marks in the snow that Pieter made along the way. Juliana wanted to be down from the backpack, but then didn't last long at all on the sled. I think we'll be out there again this coming weekend!

February Twilight

I stood beside a hill
   Smooth with new-laid snow,
A single star looked out
   From the cold evening glow.

There was no other creature
   That saw what I could see
I stood and watched the evening star
   As long as it watched me.
