Little Things

Little things around the house can bring a smile if you open your eyes. Paperwhites are the best thing to lift your spirits during the end of the winter season. I just love seeing the blooms in the house. We are still enjoying the last few lemons that we brought back from our friends' home in El Cerrito. But what I am really loving right now are a few old books found at a thrift store. The Home Book of Verse for Young Folks edited by Burton Egbert Stevenson is full of all kinds of wonderful poems.

Little Things
Little drops of water,
   Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean
   And the pleasant land.

So the little moments,
   Humble thought they be,
Make the might ages
   Of eternity.

So our little errors
   Lead the soul away
From the path of virtue,
   Far in sin to stray.

Little deeds of kindness,
   Little words of love,
Help to make earth happy
   Like the heaven above.
