A mild summer loaded up our apple trees in a big way this year. We've been making applesauce and drying apples, but still have loads that were headed to the compost pile (which the deer love to find in the winter). Every fall we always wish for a cider press, but they are not easy to come by. So, when we found out there was one in town that we could borrow, we jumped at the chance. We were able to borrow it for the weekend and Ben made gallons and gallons of cider. We gave away quite a bit to neighbors and froze the rest in the chest freezer. I think that we are set for the whole next year! The kids loved helping make it and loved drinking it even more.
