Grove Cemetery

We stopped by the cemetery in Eastford to visit the Tatem ancestors yesterday. A sobering time, but lightened by little ones.

We've gone to the lake in Connecticut for a few days and are having a great visit with my Aunt Bev and Uncle Bruce. We also got to have some special friends from our time at Harvard come over for lunch - we finally got to meet Simon Tootle! What a cutie he is. Luckily the evenings are cooling off, because Pieter is insisting on having a fire every morning in the cottage. It is a lot of fun to visit this place, full of childhood memories of Grandpa and Grandma and living in Eastford.

Visiting Mary Jane's Studio

{Pieter, Jacob and Victoria meeting Noah}

{Juliana loving a piece of watermelon with Mary Jane}

{I love these smiles on Juliana and Mark!}

I love reconnecting with Mary Jane and Mark when I'm New Hampshire for a visit. Chris and I and the kids headed over to her studio yesterday and had a wonderful visit. The kids loved meeting Noah, one of Mary Jane's three resident doves in her studio. Since I hosted a giveaway from Mary Jane a year ago, we thought it would be fun to show a bit of her studio. Every direction one looks there is beauty - whether the walls or floors, as Juliana found to her delight. I have a new favorite painting of Mary Jane's, that I'll show you as soon as I have the print framed and on the wall at home!

My dear friend Chris came up to New Hampshire with her children, Jacob and Victoria, to visit for a few days. We started off our time blueberry picking just down the road from my parents home. Pieter and Victoria hit it off and did a great job helping out with picking berries. Chris picked enough to fill a cooler to bring home for the winter. Oh, how I wish I didn't have such a long drive home to South Dakota! I would love to bring some back. I'll have to settle with making some jam, instead.

Windmill Spring Farm

Pieter and Juliana are enjoying Grandpa and Grandma's farm in New Hampshire! What could be better than tractor rides and chickens?
And dinner around here doesn't get any better!

Bumble Bee

Bumble Bee

Black and yellow
Little fur bee
Buzzing away
In the timothy
Lump of a bee
Bumbly bee.
Where are you taking
Your golden plunder
Humming along
Like baby thunder?
Over the clover
And over the hay
Then over the apple trees
Zoom away.

{Madison & Juliana}

{Aunt Debbie and Juliana}
{The oldest and youngest cousins, Kayla and Juliana}

We drove back to New Hampshire to play with cousins! The kids really enjoyed each other and it was lots of fun for everyone to see Kayla, who will be making a great-grandma out of Grandma next year!

Franklin Park Zoo

{love the photo of Pieter and Linda}

We dropped Papa off at the airport this morning and then headed to Franklin Park Zoo with cousin Linda. Despite the high temperatures, the kids loved it and Pieter especially liked climbing the trees.
