The morning after the snow
The next morning after the snowfall we headed out for a drive in the park in search of the wild animals, as Pieter likes to say. Not that far along we found our first herd of bison on the horizon. I felt for them as they pushed their noses around in the snow to find the grass beneath. What a way to find breakfast.
As I got out of the car to take some more pictures, a grouse flew up to the top of the Ponderosa Pine. You can just see it at the top, right of the tree.
We came around the corner and saw another herd on the road, much to our delight.
Pronghorn were our next find. After we watched them for a bit, Pieter said, OK, now the burrows! We never did see them, though.
I just love this granite. It was too snowy yet to make it up to the Needles. Perhaps in May...
