Icy walk

I loved yesterday's photo so much that I couldn't resist showing some more. Isn't it beautiful? We enjoy walks along the creek, no matter what the season. You can see in the second picture that the ice is forming from the bottom of the bed. Such an interesting phenomena.

  1. Beautiful! I loved your moment so much that I subscribed, hoping for some more lovely, icy photographs. Cosmic link - here they are!

I wonder how the ice forms on the bottom of the creek? That sure is interesting - I would have thought that any ice would immediately rise to the surface. How bizarre!

  2. I've heard that the creek runs at a fast enough speed that ice doesn't form at the top, but it does at the bottom of the bed where the water moves at a slower pace, allowing it to freeze. Sometimes the ice keeps building up and the creek will flood as runs out of space in the bed.
