Montera Cabled Jacket

Pattern: Montera Cabled Jacket by Kathy Zimmerman
Yarn: Classic Elite Yarns Montera, Indigo Dye Pot
Needles: US 8

Finally! It is done! I saw this pattern back in Madison when I was working at Lakeside Fibers. I fell in love with the cables that Zimmerman is so good at designing.  I had never cabled before and decided that it might be a good project to start since I had help near by. Well, after finishing the back in a couple months, I took a year off while I started and completed other projects that promised faster gratification. Finally this spring I got the desire to get it done.  So glad! I am not happy with the finishing. Maybe one day I will go back and do the seams again. But, in the meantime, I am very happy to have a finished project.  Here is my ravelry link: Montera Cabled Jacket.

Drops Jacket

Pattern103-1 Jacket by DROPS Design
Yarn: Rowan Big Wool Fusion, Soot
Needles: US 10.5 & 11

This jacket was so much fun to make with the big yarn and needles. Wow. I don't think I have every made a sweater in two weeks before. It is very warm, making it a great spring/fall jacket.  And the hat was a bonus with just the right amount of yarn leftover.

I modified this pattern quite a bit to make it top-down, seamless with raglan sleeves. I decided to make the sleeves long, rather than 3/4. I also went down a needle size to do the cuffs. I am amazed at how nice the yarn is and how little it balls up.

Simba and Luna were perfect models for me in front of our big oak tree.

I thought you might enjoy this picture of Simba "helping" me put the buttons on!
